What your handwriting says about your future

Your child's handwriting may reveal a lot about their future. Stationery retailer Wilkinson has teamed up with handwriting expert Margaret Webb to discover what type of career they could be destined for - all from their handwriting!

The seven categories detailed below each dictate a different handwriting style, which signify certain attributes and qualities.  Are your kids creative like JK Rowling or pioneering like Alan Sugar?  Are you reaching your full potential? Get scribbling and find out!

Style 1: Your handwriting comprises unusual letter formations with wide flat lettering with breaks between the letters. You use flampoyant capitalisation and have a creative signature.

You are a creative just like JK Rowling. Creative people tend to be writers, designers, fashionistas!

This type of handwriting indicates someone who is open minded, with broad views that are unlikely to be bound by convention. They are lively characters that are likely to have many interests and enjoy variety.  This type of person is very creative as indicated by a creative signature and use of flamboyant and overly elevated first letters, implying they want to achieve a prominent public place in life. The breaks between the letters reflect an observant nature and someone who is naturally intuitive. The writer can impart knowledge clearly, is a good adviser and able to listen, absorbing and using what is heard.  On the surface this person is sociable and good company, others around them would not find them dull or boring, but note that this person enjoys any fuss or attention put toward them.  This style also shows a longing to be different, produce something original and unconventional.

Style 2: Is your handwriting clearly legible, showing care and attention to detail with angular points to the M and N, with neatly dotted i and crossed t? Numbers are carefully written and your writing is connected.

You are a logical person, just like Bill Gates. Logical people tend to work in IT, logistics and accounting.

This handwriting indicates a warm person who deals with pure essentials and has a no-nonsense approach to life. Attention to detail is very apparent.  The letters in the script all being connected suggests the writer is logical, rational and analytical.  Their thinking is systematic and their sense of calculation and strategy leads them to plan ahead. The angular points suggest they are goal minded, persistent and purposeful, this also shows determination and realistic views.

The careful positioning of letters and numbers on the page along with the precisions positioning of t bars and i dots show single-mindedness, focus and a compulsive nature. Once started on a task they don’t like interruptions until they have arrived at a suitable stopping point. Connected writing shows a level of concentration, which enables thinking and planning.  Connected writers want to bring things together, arrange them in proper order and deliver them systematically.

Style 3: Your handwriting is slanting to the left with a simplified, slow writing style, a flat-topped M. The writing is heavily pressured with angular lower lengths.

You are practical just like Sarah Beeny. Logical people tend to work in construction, mechanics, electronics.

This style reflects that the writer possesses good planning ability as long-range organisational skills are well developed. The left slant indicates that great care is taken, work is planned and scheduled with attention to detail. Although not dynamic by nature this type of person is physically active and will persevere.  The handwriting shows a penetrating and direct thought process indicating that the writer is able to get to the heart of the matter, discerning which issues are relevant and which are not, dealing with pure essentials.  They are independent of what others think and will be the type who copes well with and enjoys their own company.  They like to weigh up a situation before a final commitment is made.

There is a slightly hard-edge and uncompromising side to this person as seen in the angular formation to the lower lengths of letters ‘g’ and ‘y’ indicating that they can dig their heels in on a matter of principle.

Style 4: Your handwriting is rhythmic with rounded formations connecting the letters, which slant to the right with looping lower zones.

You are a caring just like Dr Christian Jessen. Caring people tend to work in healthcare, teaching, social care.

This handwriting style suggests the person belongs to a sociable group, and has a basic ease and ability to relate to others as human relationships are important to them.  The rounded formations suggest that by nature they are generous and responsive and like to receive and extend hospitality, being naturally kind and gentle in nature.  The writer is ambitious, competitive and has natural powers of leadership, reinforced by go-getting and aspiration to succeed.  The right slant indicates great skill in communication and a personality that is more often at ease than tense, and feels at home in the world, these attitudes are manifested by the desire and ability to avoid conflict and friction and to be patient and tolerant.

This writing style shows the writer seeks interaction and recognition, together with the regard of others as is a team player. They desire to live life in the fast lane, are enthusiastic, readily seek out a challenge and continually look to the future.

Style 5: Your handwriting is right slanted, with elongated lower zone letters, heavily pressured with energetic i dots and some angular formations.

You are pioneering just like Sir Alan Sugar. Pioneering people tend to be entrepreneurs, scientists, explorers.

This style suggests the writer can be direct and quick to react, has decided opinions and speaks their mind. The heavy pressure suggests an energetic approach, coupled with the prominent i dots indicates they possess determination and also reveals a drive and the ability to reach attainable goals set by themselves – and push on regardless throughout fatigue or inner worry.  The style suggests a lack of subtlety and portrays someone who is ready to argue for his beliefs and desires, more assertive and argumentative than gracious.  Some letters such as ‘g’ and ‘y’ are elongated into the lower zones more than usual showing a dominant character. Their style conveys a practical and hardworking person who can be confrontational and also stubborn. Socially this style suggest the writer likes to connect with people and the right slant indicating a look toward the future, knowing what they want, and usually the drive and determination to get it.

Style 6: your handwriting is right slanting with dominant rounded lower zone letters, energetic lettering, heavy pressure and legible writing.

You are active just like David Beckham. Active people tend to be in the military, personal trainers, sports players.

This style suggests that physical activity is the driving force of this individual, without an outlet for their boundless energy they would feel very frustrated.  The right slant coupled with dominance of lower zone rounded letters suggest a competitive nature and someone who strives to excel in the areas which they know they can do well.  The energetic lettering shows that this person likes to live life on a large scale with space around them, they carry others along with boisterous enthusiasm and sense of fun and is not put off easily.

As well as sporting activity he shows some artistic ability. He can also be extravagant and he loves the good things in life.  His ability to solve problems is an asset and he will take the initiative and respond quickly in a crisis, thinking quickly on his feet without panicking.

This writer has a generally easy-going nature and is someone his friends find easy to be around as he is enthusiastic, willing to join in and often the instigator of new activities.

Style 7: Your handwriting has irregular slanting and irregular letter heights. The writing is medium to large with sharp endings and irregular pressure and the letters are half connected.

You are dramatic just like Kate Winslet. Dramatic people tend to be actors and entertainers.

This person is decisive, enthusiastic, demonstrative, continually looking ahead into the future.  One of his strengths is his flexible nature but he is very restless constantly seeking variety and change.  He likes to be active and have friends and will seek recognition in social situations. Under the surface, this writer is anxious and not always emotionally stable. However he is essentially an individualist and does not conform to a set pattern.

This person would be very good company and never dull or boring. There is an overall irritability about his handwriting, however, and he thinks faster than he writes.  He is a good all-round mixer but only when he feels comfortable within the accepted group.  Because he is also lively and spirited he will like someone a lot or not at all as he views situations more subjectively than objectively.  The writer is susceptible to atmosphere and environment, is warmed by the approval of others and very sensitive to indifference.
