You might remember that a while ago my younger son had an allergic reaction to something (we don't know what) and ended up at A&E with a very dramatic rash which resulted in large quantities of piriton and a course of steroids.

Tonight, just as I was getting dd ready for bed, he said, "Mummy I'm itchy". Now, he also gets mild eczema, so I told him to go and ask daddy for some cream, which he did. Then he came back in and said, "Now it's really itchy" and in the space of two minutes a raised, blotchy rash had appeared all over his forearms and it looked like it was about to spread to his upper arms too.

I've decided I don't fancy another day in A&E, so this time I've given him a double dose of piriton (as recommended by the hospital last time) and sent him to bed with strict orders to wake me up if he feels ill. It had already started spreading to his face, but hopefully I've caught it in time.

I wish I knew what was causing it. I jokingly said that maybe he is allergic to Lego, and he rather witheringly said that I was being ridiculous...

Aww, I hope you got it in time. Must be frustrating and worrying not to know what caused it.

What a nightmare. I hope you get to the bottom of what causes it. My DSS suffers with itchy skin and it drives him to the point of insanity. He get's it worse if out in the sun.

Mother of 3!
I hope he was feeling better this morning. A bit  that you followed hospital advice rather than asking on here. :)

Why not make a list of everything he ate yesterday, or anything different he has done - just in case he gets it again, and you can see a pattern emerging. Also think about changes of environment, and detergents...

As you know simple things can make all the difference.

Hope he is better.

I thought about the cream, but it's something he's used on numerous occasions before and since the other episodes with no problems.

I also can't pinpoint anything different that he ate or came into contact with, and I thought it might be environmental but it happened in December, June and now September, so again I don't think it is a pollen.

He's feeling a lot better as long as I give piriton at fairly regular intervals.
