My husband's job will be taking us (we have an 18 month old daughter) to England in March. We currently live near Boston in the US.

My husband will be working in Slough, but we're told it's not very desirable to live there? He is told that the commute would be best if living North of Slough. Areas we like the idea of so far are Windsor, Guildford (although those are both South, we like the idea of areas similar to these), Uxbridge, and a coworker of his who lives in Iver says that area is nice also.

I will be staying home with our daughter and husband will likely use our car to commute to work, so I would like to be within reasonable walking distance to parks and/or shopping. We also enjoy farmer's markets, and will be looking for a recommended pre-school/playgroup 2 mornings per week.

Any advice is welcome! Thank you!

Hope you found somewhere. We just moved from Oxford to Horsham. Both are lovely places. We looked at Guildford but I am glad we chose Horsham. Depends what you're after, Guildford is really quite big and busy, lots of traffic. Lovely old town but lots of new development on the edges. Good luck and welcome to England :-)
